Features:  A process to determine the underlying characteristics an individual needs to possess in order to predict outstanding job performance. Competency models provide strategic value as performance improvement vehicles for both organizations and individuals.  In essence, it provides a detailed map of the requirements of individuals within an organization, at certain levels, and/or particular positions.
